In this article for Acting Man, I conclude my series on India’s demonetization and the deeper social, cultural, and institutional problems it has exposed.
I discuss why demonetization has failed, why India’s institutions continue to decay without the moral and cultural foundations required to sustain them, and why violence, corruption, tribalism, and the erosion of freedom of speech are symptoms of a much deeper civilizational disease.
