In this Mining Journal debate, I argue that India cannot become the next China.
The question is not merely whether India has enough people, reforms, or ambition. India’s deeper problems are cultural and civilizational: superstition, a lack of rational thinking, a weak sense of self-responsibility, bureaucracy, corruption, and a craving for a deity-like political savior. Narendra Modi is not the solution to India’s problems. He is more a symptom of them.
