Impressions of India II

I wrote “Impressions of India II” for What We Now Know at InvestorsInsight. This is the second of two dispatches based on my visit to India.

In the first article, I described my initial impressions of Bhopal, India’s speculative boom, the widening divide between the urban middle class and the poor, and the deeper cultural obstacles to development. In this second article, I examine the corruption surrounding compensation for the Bhopal gas tragedy, the burden of taxation and bureaucracy, India’s uneven economic growth, and the cycle of violence surrounding Kashmir and terrorism.
