I was published by the Mises Institute with an article titled “How Not to Dismantle the Caste System.”
The Indian government proposes paying ₹50,000 to people who marry someone from a lower caste. I argue that this form of social engineering is more likely to produce corruption, exploitation, and resentment than to weaken caste divisions.
Drawing on my university experiences, I examine how affirmative action, legal privileges, poor public education, and government interference can deepen the antagonism they are intended to remove. Genuine equality requires equality before the law and freedom of association—not the state’s manipulation of social and economic relationships.
