Libertinism is Not Libertarianism

In this article for Liberty Unbound, I argue that libertinism is not libertarianism. Liberty cannot be separated from self-control, self-responsibility, discipline, and reason.

I discuss why single-issue libertarian campaigns—on drugs, prostitution, immigration, or religion—can become destructive when they ignore the wider cultural and moral ecology that makes freedom possible. A free society cannot be built merely by removing legal restrictions. It also requires citizens capable of restraint, judgment, and responsibility.
