In this article for Acting-Man, I continue my analysis of India’s demonetization and the fantasy promises used to justify Narendra Modi’s war on cash.

Modi’s supporters continue to believe that confiscated “black money” will somehow be redistributed to ordinary Indians. But the arithmetic does not add up. The policy is creating enormous hardship, freezing bank accounts, damaging businesses, and pushing India deeper into financial repression and arbitrary state control.
