Critical Thinking

I was published today at Liberty Unbound with an article on critical thinking, culture, and the deeper roots of political decay.

In the article, I argue that government is only the froth on the surface of culture. The real problem is not merely bad politicians or corrupt bureaucrats, but the mental and moral habits of the society that produces them. Drawing on India, the West, education, superstition, collectivism, political correctness, and the erosion of independent judgment, I examine how people become mentally enslaved long before the state visibly enslaves them.
