Loco Parentis

I was published in the November 2008 issue of Liberty Magazine with a reflection titled “Loco Parentis.”

In the piece, I discuss parental authority, social control, dependency, and the tendency of institutions to treat adults as children rather than as responsible individuals.

The reflection examines how paternalism weakens judgment, self-responsibility, and moral independence by replacing personal agency with supervision, control, and managed obedience.

The piece appeared in the Reflections section on page 10 of the November 2008 print issue.
